Where have I been?

Nowhere actually, just too tired to make the time to update this blog. We are nearing the end (at least I'm hoping we are) of a very bad sleep issue with JT. I think it's combination of traveling for 3 weeks and then getting sick when we got back that started all this, but being consistent the past week and sprinkling a little prayer over it by every person that asks me if I'm tired (if you ask why I look so horrible then you get the prayer request) and I think we are working it out. Last week was the worst. He was averaging only 9 hours of sleep a night, including the 2 times he would wake up crying and we would have to fight him "back into bed" for about 30 mins each time. Then because he wasn't sleeping at night his naps were crappy too lasting only 45 mins to an hour. Most people think that if a kid is over tired then they will sleep good. While that might be true with some kids, it's not so with most, trust me I feel like I've earned a PhD on all the sleep books I've read in the past few weeks. The more tired they are the harder it is for them to fall asleep AND to stay asleep...SLEEP BEGOTS MORE SLEEP, plain and simple.

But THANK YOU JESUS, he is doing a little better each night. He didn't wake up at all last night until 5 this morning (hence why I'm up posting so early) and went back to sleep after daddy got him some water. I'm praying/hoping he'll stay asleep till at least 7:30 but not keeping my hopes to high. Lesson I'm learning from all this? You can't put a price on a good nights sleep!

Nothing to new around here, last week JT and I did Vacation Bible School at our church, which is always a ton of fun. McKinney Bible Church knows how to put on a show for kids of epic proportion! Their children's ministry is one the best I've ever seen and they are backed by some of the best parents to make such events a hit with the kids. JT was even asking on Monday if he could go to "caton bi-bul stool?" aw, how cute! The theme this year was crocdile-rock and that's exactly what it was....a rock concert. My kid is a rocker thru and thru so the music was his favorite. I was part of the story team and had to dress up like a swamp hill-billy each day so that my character, Beautice, could look the part. I'll have to get some pics from friends, I didn't take my camera and am kicking myself now.

On Saturday we went to the lake with our friends the Dollar's. I was feeling really brave and decided to do some wake boarding for the first time ever! I've snow boarded before and sucked at it, but what the hey, water sports are easier so this must be too, right!? Wrong! I had no problems getting up and going straight, but as soon as the boat would turn, which meant I had to turn, well that's when the face plants would happen. I did like it though and now am on the hunt on Craig's List for wakeboard.

Oh and just for my memory sake I'm going to put JT's latest developments on here. Last week he started saying 4 word sentence and yesterday he asked me "mommy, help Jackson find white truck please". I kind of stood there dumb founded that my toddler just used a complete sentence. He can also count to 20 now, which amazes me! I do have to admit that he gets the #'s confused sometimes between 13 and 20, but he tries real hard and has done it successfully about 3 times now. He also sings the melody of the ABC's and hits most of the letters in the alphabet, but still doesn't have that one down yet. Oh and he loves to sing along with his cd's in the car. It's the sweetest voice in the world! He doesn't know all the words to the songs but he knows most and it just shocks me how sings along with them!

July 4th and some other notes of fun!

First off, you can have your blog made into a book at this site. Not sure when I should start mine, maybe print it by year? Anyway, I hope that helps some of you.

Travis had Friday the 3rd off and some friends came over to swim and hang out. My friend Bekah and her little girl, Jordan made me a early birthday cake....it was so cute! Jordan decorated it all by herself

After eating and swimming we came inside to start winding the kiddos down for bedtime. I heard some sirens outside but just thought that they were passing by so I didn't give it much more thought. Till I got done with cleaning up the kitchen, came into the living room as Derrick was quickly and VERY CALMLY came passing through the house to the back and as he did was asking "hey, Crissy, do y'all have a hose out back?" I of course answered back, "yah, it's by the BBQ-er, why for?" and he answers back "oh, no reason really" as he dashing out the back door. OK! I looked at his wife, Georgeanne and she said said "I think something is on fire in the back yard" WHAT!? WHAT THE FRENCH TOAST!? FIRE?!!!! So I went to the back window just in time to see 2 firemen coming in the side gate with Travis and heading across the yard to where all the smoke was coming from. Apparently after the dust settled the fireman said that someone must have flicked a cigarette butt (another reason I hate cigarettes) over the fence and because our lovely neighbors won't take care of their yard and it's been hotter than blazes here, their backyard lit it up like a chimney and caught our fence on fire! NICE!

So now I'm wondering who's going to pay for that part of the fence that needs fixed and for the 2 bushes that are dead now. Travis says that it will be us and for some reason that just chaps me! Why can't the neighbors be held responsible?! I'll let it go at that!

Moving on...... our July 4th was spent at home with just the 3 of us and JT's ear infection. That poor kid must have been fighting it for a few days before I added it all up (waking up endlessly at night, tossing and turning in his sleep, super fussy, tugging at the same ear) and hauled him off to our Pediatrician's Urgent Care on Sunday (7/5/09) am. Turns out that inner ear infections, which is exactly what he had, are more painful and take longer to heal...GREAT!! That poor kid, this is his 3rd ear infection in 3 months and it seems like he gets them every time he has some more teeth pop through. The Dr said that teething has nothing to do with ear infections, and I will agree that I'm not the one that went to medical school, but COME ON you've got to acknowledge a pattern here, Doc!

Swimming with daddy, that boy has become a little fish lately! We did have him in swim lessons with the infamous Miss Stephanie, but that only lasted a day because of the ear infection. He's really good with the kicks and scooper hands, but hates to be on his back, which is the key to him not drowning. Maybe next summer! Oh and all the grandma's reading this...don't worry, he never gets in with out someone else being in the pool first. It's been drilled into him and he does obey that rule!

My 30th birthday seems to be the biggest celebration yet...on Sunday night (7/05) I had dinner with two of my good friends, Brenda and Amanda, at a fantastic sushi restaurant (Sushi Tao) that I hadn't been to yet and it was FANTASTIC!

Grandma (Crissy's mom) flew in on Tuesday to come visit for my birthday. We headed to the airport to pick her up, but not before stopping off to get JT's hairs cut. Getting a strong willed toddlers hair cut is not a walk in the park, good thing Sherry is so patient, because I was going to hurt him if someone calm hadn't been in the room. Granted he was in pain from his ear infection, but COME ON! Oh the 2's.....they're great! We was excited to see Grandma, which was a huge blessing because she also came to watch him for the weekend so T-rav and I could go away for our anniversary.

My 30th birthday was on Thurs, July 9 and it was by far the best birthday yet. Not only because I'm finally an age that people will listen to me (well, maybe not, ha! ha!) but because I got so many surprises. Georganne and Kari took me to lunch on Wed, then Georgeanne brought cupcakes over on Thursday. I got to have dinner alone with T-rav on Wed night, and then went with my mom to meet Brenda for more Mexican on Thurs night. Travis also e-mailed me on Thurs a picture of the gift he got me.....a car! WHAT?! I know, so unlike him, but really it was more about the timing of needing a new car than just buying a car because it's my birthday. He picked it, test drove it and bought it before I ever even seen a picture of it and actually I won't get to see it myself until we pick it up on Friday. We've just been so busy that that will be the only time we can get it. It was a very sweet gift and I'm so glad that I didn't have to be apart of process of finding and it's a great car!

Our weekend away to celebrate our 10 years of wedded bliss was to Possum Kingdom Lake. Maybe it's because that was the 1st time we've been away for longer than 5 hours together, but we had THE BEST TIME! T-rav and I were enamored with PK! During the blazing heat on Friday we drove around in the A/C truck to check out some property. We are in no way a position to purchase something there now, but it is definitely on T-rav's radar. Guess he's been doing a lot of thinking lately because his new 5 & 10 year plans have changed a little and since my plans are to do whatever T-rav's doing (c'mon folks, you know I don't have an original thought in my head!) I guess we are focused on some lake property now. Nothing fancy, just a nice a place to get away to and let others use it as well. But you never know, plans are always a changing at the Kinley Casa ;-).

We came back Sunday am early to get my mom to the airport my 10:30 am, but also came home to a very sick little boy. So while I helped my mom pack up T-rav made the call and got JT another appt to the urgent care at our Ped's office. I headed to the airport with my mom and daddy headed to the Doc with JT. Turns out the anit-biotics JT was on weren't working and the bacteria from his ear had spread to his sinus. Now the poor little guy had 2 very bad infections going on and his little eyes were so swollen from the lack of sleep and his sinus being huge. We were prescribed a different anit-biotic and sent home for rest and NO SWIMMING! Kind of hard to get JT distracted in temps like this from the big blue cooling pool out back, but I've managed to do it all week till our swim day on Thursday.

Some other milestones are JT last week counted to 7 all by himself, then the next day it was 8 and then yesterday he hit all the way to 13 before jumbling up the numbers!!! I'm just amazed at what they can absorb at this age. I've also started on letters of the week, so on Monday I drew a big letter "A" on some paper, let him color it and then cut it out to hang on the art wall. We then talked about the letter and I showed it to him in some of his books. He now points out the letter "A" when he sees it in a word and will say "A says aaaaaaaa!" Little sponges, they are!

10 Years on the 10th!

Happy anniversary to my honey! It has been 10 years since we said "I do" and we are more in love today than that warm July day in Casper, WY. In looking back it seems like we were just kids (um, I guess we were?!), but what an adventure God has led us on together. Together we have matured, laughed, cried, become parents, and enjoyed life. I love you and am so blessed to call you my husband! I wasn't always easy and blissful, but thank you for sticking it out with me when it was tough because being on this side of working it out is so amazing! I LOVE YOU TRAVIS!!

Hey all, please be praying not only for our marriage (who can't use prayer, right?!) but also that things will go smoothly with JT for my mom this weekend. Travis and I are leaving this morning, we won't be back till Sunday am and JT has never woken up to anyone but mommy or daddy. This is the first time we've left him together overnight and Travis is especially worried. Thanks all!

The bad news and the good news

DISCLAIMER: This post has taken me 5 days to get done, so it is super long, but since I found out that you can have your blog printed into a book, I've decided to make them a little more detailed so my kids will have a memory book to read when they grow up. Hope you enjoy the novel ;-) Oh, I don't know how I got the first paragraph all underlined, but I don't know how to un-do it.

Well I'll start off with the bad news that way we can move past it quickly. We had to finally lay our sweet-barking-not-too-patient-with-kids-doggy, Copper, to rest on Monday. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be but we kind of had an inclination that it was going to happen soon so I felt like I was prepared for it. About a month ago Copper stopped eating as much and then the past few weeks stopped eating all together. When we got home from vacation on Sunday he was excited to see us but too weak to stand for any length of time, then Monday morning he started vomiting his water and Travis said that he would be suffering beyond this point. You could look in Copper's eyes and see that he was just trying to say "I'm done." So we took the long drive to Aledo Vet Clinic to have the good Vet Dr Jackson Beach look at Copper and he agreed that we were doing the most human thing for him as he would not have made it through the next couple of days. I couldn't stay in the room so I gave him one last squeeze, kiss on his head and exited with tears streaming down my face. Travis stayed and petted him as he peacefully left. When he came out we got in the truck and left, but on the way home a few tears slipped out of his eyes as we recounted some funny memories we had with Copper. He would have been 13 in August (which is pretty old for a dog his size) so you can imagine how much our dog was spoiled and treated as our baby all those years. Augh! The tears still come to my eyes. I know the past year I complained a lot about Copper...how he always growled at JT and even nipped him a few times...but he was a great dog, loving to his mommy & daddy, and a great guard dog. He also had an instinct to protect the kiddos around water and there were numerous times I had to get on him because he was acting all freaky about JT being around the pool or splashing in his baby pool. When JT first started walking Copper would get himself between JT and the pool as to make sure JT wouldn't fall into it, I always thought that was very sweet of him.

So on to the good news.....well maybe it's only good news for us...we have spent the last 2 1/2 weeks vacationing! It's fun to do it all at once, but now that we won't be going anywhere again for awhile, it kind of sucks that we don't have any travel plans to look forward to.

It started out on June 12th with JT and I flying to San Antonio, TX to take JT to Sea World and for us to take in the beautiful River Walk again. Travis had been in a class all week in Houston so he drove up to meet us on Friday evening. Our plane got to San Antonio a few hours before Travis could get there so JT and I took our first taxi ride together to our hotel on the River Walk. I got a steal on the room...on $80 a night...because they were remodeling the lobby and restaurant. The rooms had already been done and although they were super trendy and would have to be updated again in about 5 years, ours was super nice! JT and I checked in, unpacked the necessities, pulled the room darkening shades and napped on the huge California King size bed for 2 hours while we waited for daddy to make the drive. Travis pulled into the parking lot of the hotel right as JT was waking up so we headed to the elevator to meet daddy. Travis had been gone since Sunday afternoon so it was very exciting for that little boy to get to see daddy again. The minute Travis stepped off the elevator JT ran straight to him, squealing "DADDY". I honestly couldn't tell who was more excited to see each other.

For dinner we headed to a HORRIBLE mexican restaurant on the River Walk for dinner. The food was terrible and the service was worse, but it was nice to sit and watch the tour boats and river taxi's go by while watching our little boy's eyes, who is obsessed with boats, light up at all the action.

The next morning we headed out as soon as we could to hit Sea World! We knew it was going to be HOT HOT HOT and since JT is still little we decided just to hit the highlights. We had pre-paid tickets so we skipped the lines and made a bee line for the dolphins. There is this huge tank that they keep about 10 of them in with a side designated for feeding them and of course that is where they all hang out. We bought a tray and attempted to get the little blondie to toss a fish at the hungry dolphins, but just like everything else...he's a little apprehensive when trying new things. So mommy and daddy had a great time throwing the fish out there. You could however wait for them to take it from your hand, but after getting a good look at there razor point teeth, I was sure that tossing them would be a better fit for me. You could pet them too, but for some reason the just couldn't get past my fear. Another thing I was amazed was that they were a lot bigger than what I thought they would be.

After feeding the Dolphins we followed the crowd to the 1st Believe Show starring Shamu! There were about 6 killer whales, so not sure which one was actually Shamu, but it was a great show nonetheless. JT loved it, I was amazed at how well trained these huge animals were and even more at how gentle they seemed. It was well worth the price and next year we'll get the season passes because they're only $5 more than the regular price if you buy them before March and you can go back as much as you want.

After Shamu we were sweating like pigs so we decided to head to the water park portion and cool off. They have an awesome water park with tons of kid rides, most of which are for kids 3+ so we just stayed in the wave pool and the kiddy splash pool that is about 1' deep. JT walked around that gigantic lagoon for about and hour and half until we decided that being outside in 104 heat index till 1 pm was good enough. We longed for an air conditioner and a cushy bed for a nap so we packed up and headed out, but not before stopping and getting JT a Shamu stuffed animal that to this day he still sleeps with.

After getting back to our hotel room we settled in for another nap and JT was out within the 1st few minutes. I don't think I've ever seen the sleep-hater out so fast. He must have been wiped out because the boy slept for 3 1/2 hours....totally un-heard of with this kid!!! We finally had to wake him up so we could go to dinner.

During the nap marathon I had time to cruise the internet and research the River Walk restaurants so we ended up at the Rainforest Cafe. It was awesome and I was really surprise to find that the food was actually good....huh, go figure. JT loved all the wildlife in there, but when it started to move during the "thunderstorm" they have every 30 mins it made him a little apprehensive.

After dinner we took JT to see the Alamo for the first time. Since Travis is a history buff I'm sure this won't be JT's last visit to "remember the Alamo"

After the Alamo we took JT on a Riverboat Tour ride because we thought since he loves boats so much maybe he'd get a kick out of that.....he liked it for about the first 15 mins and then he kept trying to climb up by the driver to help....well every other boat he's been on he's been able to drive, why not this one mom?

We then headed back to home to Ft Worth on Sunday so we could un-pack, wash and re-pack so JT and mommy could fly the friendly skies back to Wyoming on Tuesday for some family visiting. JT and I stayed and played with mommy's side of the fam till daddy met up with us on Saturday am.

The 2nd day we were there we hitched a ride with my good friend Tara to one of Casper's newest parks. Her oldest, Tawnee, was on crowd control...not by choice, but more because JT was in love with her and would follow her everywhere. I personally thought it was adorable.

We ran up to the mall to get some things and at Target they had these buggy's that someone had left...so we snatched em up...usually they're pinned in a corral and you have to pay to use them.

My brother had a huge BBQ at his house and all my fam headed over for burgers, brats and laughs. It was fun to see all of them again and most of all to see the newest member......Riley! My cousin's little baby girl was born at the end of May and it was the first time we got to see her. JT LOVES LOVES LOVES babies! When I picked her up to hold her he wanted to be apart of it too. My uncle has some great pics of me holding JT in my lap and him holding baby Riley. He promised to send me some copies, so they better show up here soon! It was kind of cute....when I tried to give Riley back to her mommy, JT had a fit, yelling "no! mommy's baby!". Oh, sweet baby boy, I wish that was our baby girl......wouldn't that just be the icing on the cake?

On Thursday my awesome sister-in-law, Arliss, and I got to get some ladies time in by getting our toes did and our sushi on. I miss her tons and even though I don't get to see her all time, it always seems like we haven't missed a beat when we get together.

For the 1st weekend we were up in the northern parts we headed to the lake with family to have some fun in the sun....boating and camping...my favs! Even though we didn't actually get to stay the night out there, just being at my favorite lake on this planet 2 days in a row was a treat.

On Daddy's Day we took Travis around to see all the folks we had been having fun with before he got there. We went over to his grandma and grandpa's for lunch and then had some mexican for dinner with our good friends Jason and Tara and their girls. Once again, Tawnee entertained JT the entire time.....it was AWESOME!

On Monday we headed up to the NW corner of Wyoming to visit Travis's parents cabin in Dubois, WY. I had forgotten how beautiful the wide open spaces were and let me tell ya....driving 3 1/2 hours in Wyoming with definetly bring you WIDE OPEN SPACES! Ha! Ha! JT had a ton of fun up in the mountains!

We were up there for a few days so we took advantage of being so close to the Idaho border and snuck over to Jackson Hole, WY to meet up with the in-famous Herther's!!! Well, maybe just 2 of them, but we were still stooked about getting to see Brooke and Abram, despite Ben not being able to come. We went to the elementary school playground to eat lunch and let the boys play. JT recognized Brooke right away and starting yelling her name with excitement. The boys took a few extra minutes getting over there shyness, they definetly recognized each other, but were acting coy for a bit.

We then headed back to Casper to wash clothes and re-pack so we could head to Cheyenne the next day. Travis's cousin Ben and his new wife Teresa got married on Sat June 27. On Saturday morning, since all of the family were in town for the hitchin, Travis's sister, Tammy, had a big family-reunion-brunch at her house. We hadn't seen a lot of Travis's family since our wedding, almost 10 years ago!

The next morning we packed up and headed to Denver to fly back to Ft Worth. It was a fabulous time and I'm so glad we had a big break from this heat! The only good thing about it was the blazing hot sun warmed our pool up to a nice 82! A lot has happened since we've been home...the 4th, our fence catching on fire from the neighbors, ear infections, Grandma coming to visit....but I'll get to those posts when we get back from our next trip this weekend! Travis and I are going to PK (Possum Kingdom Lake) WITHOUT JT for our 10 year wedding anniversary, which is Friday the 10th!!!
