Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs

It is what is says....we have lots and lots of signs that Jackson will very soon be making his grand entrance. I'm not actually in labor yet, but it is so very close. I will try to make it a priority to post a one-liner when the labor starts. We are EXCITED to have an October baby!!

Here's my new car! Well it's new to me. So long cool super cool sporty coupe, hello grocery-getter....oh look at what I have become, I'm sure this kiddo is worth it! :-)

So long Accord Coupe.......
Hello, Honda CR-V
At least I won't have to roll in and out of my car anymore. Should have seen me the last 3 months in that coupe....HILARIOUS!!

Still no Jackson :-(

Today is the actual D-Day and honestly I'm not disappointed that he hasn't came yet, actually a little relieved because I have a ton of stuff planned over the next 3 days, so he can come on Sunday....I'll have time for it then HA! HA! Just want to keep y'all up to speed. I have to get going, hopefully my next post will be short, but with a APB that we are headed to the hospital.

Have a good weekend!!

It's all yours dude!

This morning I woke up early and decided that I was going to get this kid out, TODAY!! I'm taking every advice, accept for the Castor Oil (sorry Calvin), and so due to the full moon theory I plan to spend the day sweating to death outside in the heat, just so the moon's gravitational pull may have an effect on me.

So to start off, it rained a little here last night and then stayed cloudy, which translates into Texas weather as HUMIDITY!! I was extremely hot by 5:30 am and couldn't sleep any longer. The sun doesn't come up here until 6:30, but I didn't care, I was going swimming! So out the back door I go suited up for a long swim doing the breast stroke (that is what induces labor, duh!) under the full moon hoping the clouds won't buffer my gravitational pull. I flipped on the pool light walked around the pool to secure the perimeter for any animals that may have found respite from the heat. Clear. Head to the steps to parade myself into the cooling and wonderful refreshing water (by the way Travis says that is it WAY too cold to swim but apparently between my enormous size, the heater with in, and the fact that I have no feeling on my stomach, I think the temp of the pool is a PERFECT 79 degrees. Heck that's warmer than what Alcova gets during mid August!!). It is pretty bad though, when you over weight dog won't even get in the pool with you anymore cause he thinks it's too chilly.

OK, back to my story....as I step off the stairs onto the floor of the pool I take notice of our little floating turtle that chlorinates the pool and barley make out with my diminishing eye site that he has a little weird necklace of some sort. Of course he is above the water line and since the light is under the water there is a shadow, so I swim out a little in the deep end to get a closer look and guess what that necklace turned out to be.......

A FREAKIN SNAKE!!! Need I say more! Would think that since I didn't have the ability to actually breath at that point and was so terrified it would send me into labor...NOPE!! Apparently after I caught my breath and began to scream, it just made Jackson retreat back up to my stomach. I truly feel as if I can't breath again, like he is up under my ribs again. Then again it could be that I am still feeling the aftershock...post-traumatic stress syndrome maybe? I'll have to stop by Susan's for some counseling, I'm sure. I'm coming up with a new system to "check the pool for critters" and starting next swim season (oh, I am so done with it this year. It's gonna have to take me a good 6 months again to get that little shock value out of my head).

Mind you, these snakes and frogs don't get in there all the time, but usually we get 3 or 4 a year that we come across. Travis is the one that usually finds them and then will drown them with the net so I don't ever have to see them. I think they are either cooling themselves off or getting some water, either way they can't get back out because of the rock edge that hangs over the side of the pool. Usually we will find them doing laps around the pool or clinging to the wall for some rest, that's why securing the perimeter usually works, I can spot them easily. This guy seen the possibility of making a raft out of our floating turtle and took it. Well the pool's all yours dude, cause I ain't sharing!!

Of course I ran to get the camera to take a picture.....no one will truly understand my agony until they actually see what I saw. Now just picture it, your relaxed, cooled off from the heat, bobbing along because the weight of your tummy is being supported by something else, it's a new day and your thinking to yourself...aaahhh, "His mercies are new each morning" What a great way to start the day! Hmmm....did turtle get a new necklace???....SNAKE!!!!! Of course this is my dramatic recollection, but I know you feel my pain now, right?? Well now you get to see it too!!! (click on the picture to make it bigger...it helps the effects too)

I know some of you are thinking..."well that's just a little baby snake, good grief, drama queen!" Well in my world a snake is a snake, size don't make no difference, OK!! So after snapping the picture, I noticed the large spider hanging out with the devil (oh yes I said devil. That's just what snakes are....it's in the bible!). Just how did those two hook up on this turtle in the middle of what would seem like an ocean to them?

So after my morning shock, I decided to go for a walk. So me and my fat dog went for a little hike around the walking path in the park by our house. It's sad when you are 40 weeks pregnant and can out walk your dog. Then again Travis can out run him too! How sad! But in Coppie's defense, he is 10 years old now and has a bad hip due to being hit by a car 9 years ago. Here's a picture of him after the snake scare! He was watching out for mommy, making sure there weren't any others.

Copper on the look out.

Well I'm headed to go get a pedicure. Supposedly rubbing the inside of my foot below the ankle will induce labor, but even if it doesn't my toes will look fab in the stirups! (oops, sorry Travis, I know...too much info!!)

Does a full moon mean anything?

I was looking at the calendar the other day and noticed that tomorrow, the 26th, will be a full moon. Does that mean anything for my current situation? I read some where about 5 months ago that just as the moon controls the tides, it has an effect on babies and bags of waters that they live in. Has anyone heard of this? If so, what are the SPECIFIC things I can do to make sure this happens?? Can ya tell I'm DONE!! I mostly just want to see what he looks like.

Newest thing is I can't feel the front part of my belly. A friend of a friend is a physical therapist and she was telling me that it is because the muscle has been stretched so far that the nerve endings have gone numb, she also said that it is a natural pain killer your body provides and this is a good thing, because if I felt it, it would be extremely painful. To me it feels like when you go to the dentist and he numbs you with the Novocaine...well on the outside of your mouth you can feel that you are touching it, but you can't actually "feel" it. Well imagine that feeling around your belly button. Then what is even weirder is that I can feel my "popped" belly button and it is soooo tender, I'm always walking with my hand over it so that if someone gets too close, they might not accidentally bump it...OUCH!!

Good news is my insomnia is gone. Flip side to that...what will I do now that I can sleep all night? I don't want to get used to this..wow never thought I'd say that! Jackson needs to hurry up and get here because I just realized last night that my mom and Travis's grandma will be here in 2 weeks, and I know they ain't coming to see me or Travis!! Plus with a baby I no longer have to entertain company!

Let's see what else...oh, we sold the Honda Coupe (bummer dude!) and are in the market for a different car. Nothing new, we are going to pay cash so we don't have a car payment, which I have found, really limits your choices even with all the cars in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex.

Again, when I go into labor I will try to remember to post it on here, so y'all will know it's happening.

Travis sent me this video and I thought it was HILARIOUS!! Have a good Tuesday.

Comfy, Comfy, Comfy!

That what this little guy is. He's not budging at all! I had a Dr's appt yesterday and Jackson is just very comfortable and not showing any signs of leaving any time soon. I'm kind of relieved too, because even though I am very uncomfortable, the closer I get to Sept 27, the more scared I get of being a mom. At first I thought I would be freaked out about the delivery but I have since discovered that all of my anxiety is about the parenting. I compare it to being married. When Travis and I got married, like most bride's, I just focused on the wedding day...all the little details that go with that, and I should have been focusing on the details of the actual marriage. Oh well, we all have learning lessons, and now I have the experience to share with other brides and to be a ambassador for Pre-martial counseling. I feel as if I'm a little more prepared to be a parent than I ever was to be a wife. This of course has a lot to do with the fact that I'm older and have a completely different life style, which is more peaceful than the one I choose before, thank the Lord. Still, I'm sure one day Jackson will be on a counselors couch talking about how I ruined his life.. HA! HA!

Busy day today. Have a window guy coming in a bit to fix the back passenger door window in Travis truck (a rock cracked it!!) then need to get the front windows tinted to keep the heat out for the baby, then coming back to the house to meet a friend who is going to help me put a few things on Jackson's wall. It's a surprise and I'll post some pics when it's done!! Tomorrow is the big Homecoming party (woo hoo!)...Go Frogs!!

Have a good Friday!!

Ta Da!!

We are done with Jackson's room! It turned out just the way we thought it would. Here's the before and afters......(by the way, if you click on the picture it will make it bigger, just in case you didn't know)

The bed is pulled out to the middle of the room
Again the bed is in the middle of the room so it looks small.
Putting the finishing touches on the trim.
Have to keep the queen size bed in there till the end of October for the family that is coming to visit. Jackson won't sleep in this room till after Christmas, but we thought we would put the crib in there anyway.

Love the outlet plates that we got from Lowe's.

Nothing new still. I am nesting that is for sure! I thought the nesting would be more directed to the inside, but it hasn't been. Our house could use some deep cleaning, but instead on Monday I choose to wash ALL the windows in the house on the outside and inside. Then I finished putting together our baby's room. Tuesday was filled with errands and bill paying. Today I was up early and had the pool cleaned and vacuumed by 8:30 am. Let me tell you, that is no easy feat and I now have a new respect and appreciation for the yard work that Travis does. WOW! We don't have a robot, so we have to vacuum it the old fashion way......with the hose, 15 ft pole and pool vacuum head that is about 12 inches wide. It's a slow go and I never realized all the sweat that Travis put into keeping that stupid water hole clean. THANK YOU HONEY, I appreciate you keeping in clean for me all summer so I can bobb around to keep cool!!

I have another Dr's appt tomorrow and maybe he will have better news for me than the last few weeks or even better I won't have to go because I am in labor!! I hoping I will remember when I go into labor to post something before we leave for the hospital, that way y'all will know it's happening and can be praying for a safe delivery and a healthy Jackson.

Have a great Thursday!!

Yes, we are STILL Waiting!!

Wow, time slips by when you are losing sleep, recovery from a cold and trying to organize a house that was torn apart to install carpet. Plus I am totally enjoying that I don't have to do anything if I don't want to, so when I go to the store I take an extra 45 mins to wander around looking at anything and everything...thank goodness for Super Target.

So to answer the question, have we had the baby yet? No, we haven't but are trying everything to get him to come. Tomorrow is Travis's 29th birthday and my hope is that Jackson will come then, but it's any one's guess. I'm still not showing any "signs" of pre-labor to the Dr but I have had some contractions but there just not consistent enough to get excited about.

Our house looks great though! Travis has all the trim for Jackson's room cut and in place, just needs to be nailed in place tomorrow. Here's some pics....
Jackson's room before the new paint & Carpet

New paint, new carpet, new trim and new outlet plates. When all the furniture is moved in I will post the Finished Product.

Travis hanging out, waiting for baby
New carpet in our room. This is from the bedroom door where there is a little sitting area before you step down into our room. The white spots on the wall are from some railings that we took out on Sunday. The room looks a lot bigger with out them, plus they were ugly! Travis has to touch up the paint on the trim and wall.
And baby makes no room. This is our pak-n-play which has a bassinet in the top of it and a changing table. It is a whole heck of a lot bigger than I thought it would be. This view is from the sitting area.

Pak-n-play to the left, looking back towards the sitting area. The bedroom door is around the corner to the right. Don't really care for the burnt orange recliner, but it is sooo comfortable. Used to be Travis's Papa's from the 70's and is still in great shape. Good thing orange is coming back, I guess.

The office has the same color carpet as our bedroom. You can see we still have stuff to put away.

Travis tiled this hallway back in May. I think he did an awesome job.

Another monsoon we had a few weeks ago. This is our front walk. Can you tell a geologist lives here? Look at the rock garden on the right.
The rain pouring off of the back patio cover.
Crissy getting respite from the humidity in the pool at 9:30 pm.

Prayers needed for the sick

Well my sneezes from Tuesday turned into a full blown head cold with a severe sore throat late Tuesday night. Why is it that you always feel worse at night? So yesterday I called in sick, (HA! HA!) and just laid around all day long, because that is all the energy I had to do. When your body already aches from being 9 months pregnant and you get a cold, it ends up feeling more like the flu.

Then Travis, who never gets sick, came home last night as white as a sheet. He has the stomach flu!! He slept in the other room so he wouldn't share his germs with me, but judging from the past, I usually ALWAYS get whatever he brings home.

Oh and to top it off, I started having contractions last night that were coming exactly 30 mins apart, lasting 30 seconds. This only went of for about 3 hours, but I was thinking in my head...NO, this can't be happening right now, we are BOTH extremely sick!! But just as quickly as they started, then they quickly stopped. Going to call the Dr today to make sure that is normal.

If you are the praying type I sure would appreciate a few for Travis and I, were both still feeling pretty yucky this morning. Thanks!

1st Day on the Job

Well today is my 1st OFFICIAL day as a "Domestic Engineer" aka...house wife, but I hate the latter so I'll stick with the D.E., thank you very much.

My day started off early by getting up and wandering around the house, making lists of things that I would like to get done before the "labor day" event of the summer. Then I went to my Dr's appt (we are on a weekly basis now) only to find out that NOTHING is happening. He checked me and said that the baby hasn't even dropped yet, which I beg to differ, because I swear I can breath a whole heck of a lot better and I feel as if I can eat more too with out getting stuffed so fast. Maybe he just moved south a little and didn't actually "drop". It was kind of disappointing to hear that things aren't moving along, but that may not mean anything either. I have been having contractions, though they are sporadic and too few & short to count, needless to say they are happening. In other great news...I am getting a cold! Must be from the freezing cold temps we are now keeping the house at. I refuse to endure the humidity any longer and want to be comfortable these last few weeks, so Travis has agreed to shell out the extra $$ and let the A/C be set at 75, all I can say is, Praise God!! We thought about taking the window unit out of the shed (yes, Travis has A/C in his ridiculously HUGE building he calls a shed (9' x 15'), plus 2 lofts to boot....let's just put it this way, we could convert it into a pool house if need be) but if we take it out then there will be a huge hole in the side making it easy for rain and birds to go right on in. So, since I'm due in only a few weeks, we will just cool the entire house, instead of just the bedroom. In the long run it does make more sense.

Other big news!! Copper recently got sick and decided to do it in the babies room so....We are getting new carpet and it will be installed next Monday!! We wanted to wait until after Christmas, but when Travis tiled the hallway in May, he saw how gross it was under the carpet and just couldn't imagine bringing home a new baby to such grossness (I bet the carpet is about 10 years old). I said that it would be fine and we could wait till January, but after cleaning up Copper's mess...we decided that sooner would be better. Thank goodness we only have carpet in the bedrooms, so it won't be too bad. Except we have to move everything out in to the living & dining rooms, which will suck but be worth it in the end. I'll post some before and after pics later.

Well I better scoot, I have a birthday lunch to go to and then off to the grocery store. This schedule it crazy....wink, wink!
