Sitting!? That's right, we have been practicing and practicing and 2 weeks later it has paid off......he's sitting up all on his own!! Yep and just one week shy of being 4 months old...what can I say, he's advanced! Here's the pics...

What day is it?

Wow, time has flown by once again. I can't believe that January is almost over, that it has been a month since we we're in Wyoming and that the Packers didn't make it to the Super Bowl!!

Ok, so here's the briefing on our trip. We got stuck in a blizzard on the way there and had to sleep in the truck at a rest stop south of Lamar, CO. The Dodge Mega Cab paid for itself that night, we had plenty of room..Travis and Copper up front, me and Jackson in the back. On the way back we had to drive during the day due to another snow storm that closed I-25. Jackson travels a lot better when he is sleeping. Looking back it wasn't too bad and I can add my name to the short list of moms that have traveled 18+ hours in a car with a 12 week baby. (That's me patting myself on the back :-)

Our time in Wy was fun we spent lots of time with family and got to see our good friends again. Of course no one was excited to see us, it was all about Jackson. I did make the mistake of showing up at Brian and Kerri's with out Jackson one evening (I was just dropping off a present and didn't want to drag him out in the frigid cold....it was SOOOOO COLD), boy did I hear about that. And I thought people would be happy just to see me...whatever, it's all about the baby now! HA! HA!

January has been a rough month for us. Jackson has been congested and not sleeping well at all. We found out last Monday that he has had a sinus infection for the last month. Then last weekend Travis, Jackson and I all got the stomach flu. Vomiting and diarrhea.....it was horrible. At one point on Thursday @ 2 am Travis was hovered over one toilet, I over the other and Jackson was in our bed SCREAMING because he was laying in his own vomit. It was at that point that I thought "this can not be happening, we should be living in Wy so that we have 4 grandma's on call and taking shifts helping us." But we made it through and are doing much better, I guess it could have been worse. I heard someone say once, "God only gives you what you can handle" well I must be super woman because that SUCKED!!

We have more decorations to put up, but Travis said this was fine for this year since we won't even be here on Christmas. Each year we'll keep adding on so then finally we'll look like the Griswald's!

What a roller coaster our weather is here. On Saturday, it got to about 75, then Sunday rain rolled in and with it the freezing temps. Monday brought sleet and cold air. Then this morning we woke to the mid 50's and warm humidity. The high was 74 today, then at 2:30 pm the cold front pushed back again and the temp dropped to 50 in 12 mins!!! All the while the clouds hanging around with rain, so when you look out side it just looks gloomy, but you actually have to step out there to know if you're going to need a jacket or not.....I thought Wyoming weather was crazy, but I do have to say that Texas is so much more strange!!

Here's bath pics and a few others. JT is doing a lot better since last week. I'm still not a fan of the shots, but I feel better knowing that he has moved past it.

Shot through the leg!

Poor little JT got 5 shots on Wednesday and one oral vaccination and has been fussy and not sleeping very well ever since. Before the vaccs he was on a good schedule and was a pretty happy baby, since then he has been fussy and not able to sleep very well, which raises the question in my mind one more time....Is it necessary to have ALL these vaccs?

I know that some of them are life saving, such as the polio vacc, but I think for some others we are just told by Dr's that these are necessary when they may not be. Now don't get me wrong, I'm going to get him all the shots, but only because he won't be exposed to such things as chicken pox when he's little due to all the other children getting the vacc and then later in life it can be deadly if he gets it when he's an adult. I know that there are some speculation out there that some of these vaccs cause autism and other nervous system disorders and I'm wondering if they're right? The only reason I'm now curious is because JT was sleeping GREAT before the shots and he just doesn't seem like himself since. He also ran a high fever for 48+ hours after them, which generated another visit to the Doc and then a warning of hospitalization if it hadn't broke by Friday afternoon. See why I'm just a little skeptical now? When your Dr tells you that "we're going have to go to Cook's Children's Hospital if this fever is not broke with in 2 hours" you start to wonder a little if all these "preventive measures" are really worth putting these little guys through. Hmmmm..that's all I have to say about it.

Well after a week of weather in the lower 80's the temps have finally fallen to a chilly 44 with rain. The humidity here makes it so icy feeling, that 44 seems more like 17, I swear!! Sure would be nice to see a few flakes of snow out the window. It did snow here on Thanksgiving Day, but we only get a few snow days a year here, so I betting the next time we see flakes will be in January or February. It's snowing up north in Wyoming, which makes going there for Christmas so inviting. I do LOVE it when it snows, it's the wind afterwards that I absolutely am loving the break from. The last twenty-five years was a good run and I think we all should experience a different climate at least once in our lives, because different climates bring different cultures, which is always an adventure for the senses.

I got some good pics of JT in the BIG tub...yes he out grew the baby hammock so he's now being bathed in the tub....he just keeps growing, but that's the idea, right!? On Wed he was 9 weeks old, he weighed 11 lbs 11 oz and is 25" long. He's normal for his weight, but on the top end of the charts for his height, obviously my midget gene missed him, ha! ha!
